2024-08-26The first mixed container return train from Central Asia has arrived at the Dongfanghong (Luoyang) International Land Port in Luoyang, Henan province. The train, which departed from Kazakhstan, is operated by Sinomach's China YTO Group, which previously imported goods through the same port using 40-foot containers.

This time, the cargo owner requested the use of 20-foot containers due to the nature of the goods. Since both 20-foot and 40-foot containers have the same weight limit but differ in space efficiency, using 20-foot containers allowed for better utilization of available space, effectively doubling the cargo volume per train.
In response to this request, the business team at the port coordinated with China Railway International Multimodal Transport Co. and overseas agents to adjust freight rates for 20-foot containers. They also developed a new packing plan based on the train's weight limit, resulting in a shipment configuration of 33 40-foot containers and 36 20-foot containers. This optimized solution enabled the cargo owner to ship an additional 500 tons of goods, significantly improving logistics efficiency.
"The 500 tons of cargo will bring us higher economic returns, and we'll have more flexibility in arranging production schedules in the future," said the cargo owner, who praised the efficient and convenient services provided by Dongfanghong (Luoyang) International Land Port.
