CEI reaps friendship in the development of Algeria's home appliance industry

2024-06-10China National Electric Apparatus Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CEI), a subsidiary of Sinomach, has forged a profound friendship with the Algerian people in the midst of promoting the fast development of local home appliance industry.
Build whole-industry chains of home appliances with new image
In 2009, the CEI sent a 27-person delegation of refrigerator installation and debugging personnel to start its business for the first time in Algeria. It took them about 35 hours to arrive in Setif. Although they felt extremely excited at the beginning of their arrival, yet the construction conditions there were very complicated.
Different from China, there were no basic machinery construction capabilities and suppliers of relevant building materials in Setif. In addition, local construction workers lacked necessary construction experience and knowledge. Without optional choices, they had to travel across Algeria to purchase their wanted construction materials, recruited local builders, held vocational training and imparted professional skills to them.

"Since its arrival, the CEI has built factories and provided the Algerian people with employment opportunities. I have managed a restaurant and my life has become better at the same time," said Kader, a long-term friend of the Chinese construction team, at an interview. After its completion, the first CEI-built home appliance project has covered plant design, apparatus models, the development and research of relevant products, boasted whole-industry service chains, and fundamentally promoted the development of local home appliance industry and economic affairs.
Drive the development of Algerian home appliance industry
With the fast development of Algerian home appliance industry and geographical advantages, some Algerian companies are planning to produce and export refrigerators to the European and North African countries. The CEI has taken advantage of its unique understanding of local market and sound reputation in the undertaking of relevant research and development programs.

In the year-long program implementation period, the CEI construction team has engaged in friendly exchanges with its counterparts from Algeria, France, Italy and the Republic of Korea (ROK) over relevant technologies and construction speed on a monthly basis, and left a deep impression on them with its professional expertise, candid discussions and caring services.
Even during the Chinese Spring Festival holiday, the CEI construction team has stayed at their workplace to provide local clients with technological services, hold vocational training for local workers, speak with them about product principles and detection methods, enhance Algeria's technological competence, and make contributions to the development of home appliance industry in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries.
Become a spokesperson of China-Algeria friendship
During the past few years, the CEI has continually deepened its cooperation with Algerian home appliance companies. In 2020, it secured a conveyor project for a tire factory. Two years later, it won several major projects, including dishwasher research and development, equipment mold supply, vertical storage and delivery system of tire plants, and technical services for automobile plants.
In 2023, it got additional cooperation projects such as air-conditioner research and development as well as equipment mold parts. These cooperation initiatives have further facilitated the upgrading of local industries and strengthened the mutual trust and friendship between Chinese and Algerian people.

The CEI construction personnel have always received festive greetings from staff members of its business partners, hotel service workers and even passers-by on the occasion of traditional Chinese festivals. Meanwhile, local people have always invited them to take part in celebration events upon the arrival of the Algerian festivals to further advance the understanding of two countries' culture and strengthen mutual trust. Through these cooperation projects, the CEI has not only served as a builder but also as a mentor of technical and managerial expertise and a bridge of friendship.
